Camping at Riverside Barn is camping baht a tent
(need a translation? – ‘baht’ is Yorkshire for ‘without’).
Come and experience our newly converted stone-tent camping barn, set in a secluded location beside the River Wharfe, close to the Upper Wharfedale footpath network.
Enjoy a stop in overnight shelter for up to six people in the tranquillity of open countryside beside the rushing river. On clear nights it’s an ideal spot for stargazing, too.

Why camp at Riverside Barn?
There’s nowhere better for you to find the peace and tranquillity of open countryside in beautiful Wharfedale near Grassington. If you’re fit and healthy, want to camp but would be glad not to have to pitch a tent, prefer peace and quiet to enjoy watching wildlife and birds then this is the place – look out for the kingfisher and the trout, even an otter. It’s not for you if you expect more than minimal facilities – you’ll have to bring all your food, catering equipment, bedding requirements, etc.
See our What to Expect for more information.

What to Expect
We want you to make the most of your stay but please remember that Riverside Barn is not ‘holiday accommodation’ or a self-catering establishment so you’ll have to bring all your food, pots, pans, crockery, cooking necessities, etc., as well as towels and bedding. There is a flagged area outside for your camping stove. We’ll provide firewood for the woodburning stove. There’s a few Do’s and Don’ts – please take the time to read our Terms & Conditions.
Remember, too, that you’re on a working farm, stay close to the barn environment so please don’t trail round the surrounding field or let the dogs run free. There are houses across the river so you’re asked to keep the noise down and refrain from late-night revels. That you follow The Countryside Code is a given, of course – National Parks are not playgrounds so stay on designated footpaths, don’t climb walls or gates, don’t disturb any livestock, tread lightly on the flora and leave nothing of your presence when you go.
We’re often asked…
Are dogs allowed?
You’re welcome to bring your dog(s) but it/they must be kept on a lead at all times – sorry, but you’ll be asked to leave immediately if not.
Is there anywhere nearby to eat?
Pubs in Burnsall, Linton, Cracoe and Threshfield all do catering and Grassington, 3 miles away, has numerous shops, cafes and restaurants and a thriving cultural life.
Is fishing allowed?
There’s no fishing allowed on our stretch of river (Day tickets at Burnsall or visit Kilnsey Trout Farm) nor swimming (nearest public swimming baths at Skipton) or canoeing/paddleboarding.
Can we charge an electric vehicle?
There’s not enough power at the barn to charge an electric vehicle – don’t forget to check where public EV Charging points are in the area.
Is there internet access?
There is a mobile phone signal but no wifi so a time to experience the fun of disconnection again and make your own entertainment or read a good book.
